Nokturnon digitaalisessa residenssissä syksyllä 2020 syntynyt ”rukouskone” joka onkii aineistonsa sosiaalisen median tekstimassoista käsitellen hengellisyyden ja automatisaation kysymyksiä.
A ”praying machine” that utilizes textual environment of social media and addresses spiritual questions from the point of view of automatization and technological development. Booten created the work while working in Nokturno’s Digital Residence in Fall 2020.

”Runoni ”Loitsu” syntyi kun mietin manauksen voimaa ja jopa sukuumme 1600-luvulla kuulunutta maatalon emäntää, jota epäiltiin käräjillä noituudesta. Koronaviruspandemian myötä loitsuni muuttui ja sai lopullisen muotonsa turhautumiseni seurauksena.”

Taivaannaula rautakynsi
sulalla sui virukset pois.
Polta pelko karrelle, tulilintusemme.
Nouse taivaan hissikuiluun,
kokko tarkkanäköinen.
Tuo viesti kaukaa sanansaattajamme,
virvatulista toivomme.
Iske tulta taivaannaula,
iske kynsilläsi kiveen,
sinkoa kipinästä liekki.
Anna liekkiaallokon huuhtoa
epäilyksen yskös.
Anna toivolle siipiä
kannatteleva ilmavirta,
tuulitunneli huomiseen.

 

Spell

Axis mundi, nailed to the sky, an iron claw feather-preens all viruses away. Burn fear to a crisp, you fiery bird. Rise up heaven’s elevator shaft, you keen-eyed bonfire. Bring words from far away, you messenger, we wish on the will-o’-the-wisps! Strike fire, you Sky-Nail, blunt stone with your claws. Hurl a flame from the sparks. Let the burning wave wash away distrust. Give hope a breath of air to keep its wings, a wind tunnel leading into tomorrow.
