Nämä kaksi teosta haastavat Yhdysvaltain ja Mexicon rajaseudun metanarratiiveja. Tekstit on koostettu Yhdysvaltain rajavalvonnan dokumenteista. Poistin suurimman tekstistä, kunnes jäljelle jäivät runot, jotka ovat aiemmin olleet piiloutuneina byrokraattiseen kieleen. Kuvat tulevat Yhdysvaltain kansallisarkistosta. Mikäli lukija on kiinnostunut vertailemaan tekstejä alkuperäiseen materiaaliin, olen lisännyt teosten jälkeen lyhyet muistiinpanot, joista löytyvät tarvittavat tiedot.

These two pieces are designed to challenge metanarratives of the U.S.-México border. The texts are derived from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol documents. In terms of composition, I deleted most of the original material until I was left with the…let’s call them ‘poems’… that had previously been hidden within the bureaucratese. The images come from the National Archives. In case readers are interested in comparing ‘my’ texts against the original source material, I have included notes at the end with all the necessary details.
