In this selection poetry meets data network, classical singing and mathematics, among others. There\u2019s video poetry, visual poetry, works combining installation and conceptual art and the first poetry essay of the new Nokturno!<\/p>\n<p>Engineer and poet <strong>SS Prasad<\/strong>\u2019s essay on <strong>bpNichol<\/strong>\u2019s <em>Sixteen Lilypads<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nokturno.fi\/poem\/was-bpnichol-a-cowboy-and-not-a-poet\"><em>Was bpNichol a cowboy and not a poet?<\/em><\/a>\u00a0combines mathematics, computer science and literary analysis. Born as a response to a mathematical analysis of bpNichol\u2019s work published in Rampike, the essay dives into the world of Hamiltonian patterns, Boolean variables and molecules. Nokturno has previously released <a href=\"http:\/\/nokturno.fi\/poem\/nanopoems\">nanopoems<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0SS Prasad.<\/p>\n<p>Another engineer in our February\u2019s set is the multimedia artist <strong>Saurabh Datta<\/strong>\u00a0currently living in China. His works <a href=\"http:\/\/nokturno.fi\/poem\/ears-after-all\">Ears After All<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/nokturno.fi\/poem\/poetic-router\">Poetic Router<\/a> combine technical devices, coding and poetry. What happens when a machine tries to understand poetry? What kind of poetry is born in the internet of things or in\u00a0data networks of a home?<\/p>\n<p>Nokturno also presents three pieces of video poetry. <a href=\"http:\/\/nokturno.fi\/poem\/the-catafalque\">The Catafalque<\/a> with it\u2019s surreal and romantic horror imagery is based on <strong>Leena Sainio<\/strong>\u2019s text and Before Present\u2019s improvisational music. <strong>Taina Valkonen<\/strong>, known both as visual artist and performance artist addresses feelings related to departure\u00a0and\u00a0sense of an end\u00a0in her video <a href=\"http:\/\/nokturno.fi\/poem\/kaipaat-kun-mennyt-oon-you-gonna-miss-me-when-im-gone\"><em>You Gonna Miss Me When I\u2019m Gone<\/em><\/a>. <strong>Jukka Aulavuori<\/strong>\u2019s video <a href=\"http:\/\/nokturno.fi\/poem\/ennen-aaltoja\">Ennen aaltoja<\/a> is a collaborational piece with his brother Janne\u2019s music and Jukka\u2019s text. Black and white, text and music join\u00a0in the melancholic yet humorous piece.<br \/>\nNokturno 1-2017 also presents <a href=\"http:\/\/nokturno.fi\/poem\/four-poems\">a series of four\u00a0poems<\/a> by <strong>Garry McDougall<\/strong> from Australia and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nokturno.fi\/poem\/akvarellirunoja\"><em>a series of aquarelle poems<\/em><\/a> by <strong>Anna Mari R\u00e4s\u00e4nen<\/strong>. In McDougall&#8217;s poems text meets photos and languages merge. Anna Mari R\u00e4s\u00e4nen&#8217;s works\u00a0combine strong colors with typewriter text.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to all of you\u00a0who send\u00a0their proposals and contributed\u00a0to Nokturno 1-2017!
