The first artist in Nokturno’s Digital Residence is Mikael Brygger

The first poet in Nokturno’s new virtual residency program will be combining poetry to the world of games.

During his residency period from mid-October to mid-November Brygger will be addressing questions such as What does if mean to gamify poetry? And What is gamified poetry? Brygger’s work in the residence has two parts. In the blog he writes about the inspirations and bases of his ongoing projects. The second part of the residency is a toolbox for gamified poetry, named (Y/N), completed one post at a time three times a week. (Y/N) also includes texts from other poets and collaborators in his projects. By the end of the residency period (Y/N) will grow to be a handbook and a library of ideas to anyone interested in gamified and digital poetry.

Mikael Brygger is a renowned Finnish poet known for his work in digital, concrete, visual and game poetry. He is an active member of several literary communities in Finland and is, among others, one of the founders of publishing house Poesia and a former editor-in-chief at Tuli&Savu poetry magazine. His body of work includes three poetry books, digital poetry for example in Nokturno and collaborative works with poets and visual artists.

We are happy to welcome Mikael as our first poet-in-residence!

This is the first Digital Residency of Nokturno. The virtual residency program aims at giving opportunities to poets and artists to explore the meaning and possibilities of digital world in their own work. The program is funded by WSOY Literature Foundation.
